How Do Verified Reviews Get on Rating Icon?
Reviews on Rating Icon come from customers worldwide. Anyone with a fresh experience of a product or service can post a review free of charge, as long as they have a user account, comply with our review policies, and have no interest in our system that may result in a conflict of interest. Accounts must be linked to an email address, which also helps us service any issue that is product and service-related. All reviews for a business appear on the company's profile page, where users can read or add reviews, as well as find other relevant information, such as the overall rating, feedback and Rating Score.
Reviews on Rating Icon can come from two primary sources:
Consumers
Consumers who have interacted with a business can sign up for Rating Icon and leave an unsolicited review. We classify these as "organic reviews," since they are given freely without any prompting from the business.
Businesses
Businesses also have the option to ask their customers for reviews using our free invitation methods. It is important that businesses avoid biased requests and are prohibited from offering any form of payment or incentives for reviews. See more about how reviews are collected.
Being Open is in Our DNA
Rating Icon was founded in 2024 as an independent and open platform connecting businesses and consumers, promoting collaboration. Our model allows anyone to post a review, unlike closed or paid-access platforms where businesses can screen or manipulate reviews for marketing purposes. On Rating Icon, no reviews are unpublished or hidden; all experiences, good or bad, are shared transparently.
Consumers Own Their Reviews
Reviews on Rating Icon are considered user-generated content owned by the reviewer. Only the reviewer can edit or permanently delete their reviews through their account. Reviews are kept as long as the user retains their account. Once a user deletes their account, their reviews are also deleted, as specified in our Privacy Policy regarding data retention.
Fighting Fake Reviews
Every review published on Rating Icon is automatically screened using custom fraud detection software, so that reviews can be kept authentic. It monitors several data points such as IP addresses, user identifiers, and device data for suspicious behavior. When the system identifies any fraudulent review, it is deleted and the reviewer receives an email alert. If it's fake, the review is deleted permanently, and if it has mistakenly been flagged, the reviewer is able to fix the mistake.
Flagging Reviews
Both businesses and consumers can report reviews that break our rules. Our Content Integrity Team will then review the reported reviews. When they are deemed to be against the rules, appropriate action will be taken. Reviews are not taken down during this process, unless they are labelled as "harmful or illegal," which are hidden for public safety and regulatory compliance. Businesses are reminded that flagging only negative reviews is against our guidelines.
